Split Personality
poetry by Karla Huston and Cathryn Cofell
"Thigh Considers Her Heritage"
It’s the sound of thunder
she dreads most.
That and boots
tramping through her veins,
boots with stiletto heels,
stuffed with snakeskin
too tight
for an average girl.
She’s inside the boa,
she’s inside out,
shed and
pushed like a petulant
tongue or a banana
peeled too soon.
